Pet Project creates luxury pet furniture of quality materials in a minimalistic, elegant style that will look good in any setting. The Pet Project in Copenhagen, Denmark was founded by designers Lene Nendel and Michael Ryding. When Nendel came up with the need for pet furniture for her cat, the pair ventured into the world of pet design. Why is pet furniture often ugly, overly cute or in bad taste? That was the question designer Lene Nendel asked herself when she went out to buy a cat house. And by that the idea of The Pet Project was born, for in cooperation with business partner Michael Ryding the two set out to do something about it. In 2003 they started designing prototypes for dog houses and cat houses. Lene Nendel states, "The idea is to make products that both the pets will like to use and the owner likes to look at. Pet furniture by Pet Project is made from natural materials such as leather, lambs wool, steel, wood and glass. Each pet furniture product is minimalist yet has a comfortable feel and is made specially to blend in to the modern home. A percentage of all earnings are donated to cat and dog charities in the customers local area.
